I'm Lois.

I was 48 years old at the time of my diagnosis. There was no family history of breast cancer until then.

This diagnosis has woken me up to the good things in life
and made me appreciate and live for every day.
The Portrait Project

The "Portrait Project"

Local photographer David Fox has captured the spirit or women and men with
breast cancer. The stunning portraits were presented in a premiere public showing
of "Illuminating the Survivor Spirit" in March 2010 in Brookline, Massachusetts
in the Gallery at The New England Institute of Art.

The portraits illustrate the faces of breast cancer and have become the faces behind
the mission and message of the Art beCAUSE Breast Cancer Foundation.

Sponsorship opportunities are currently available to support the project:

  • as it grows to include women from other parts of the United States;
  • as it expands to cover military men who have a connection to Camp LeJeune, NC;
  • as it travels to other U.S. locations.

Sponsorship of the Portrait Project through our annual calendar sales and the gallery
shows will significantly raise the visibility of the indiscriminate nature of breast cancer.
